Conditions Assessments

A comprehensive assessment of the condition of each tablet and monument becomes the basis for planning and prioritizing conservation treatments and restoration. The BGPG team uses a standardized process to document conditions and their degree of severity. 

Conditions assessments are carried out by a professional conservator, who can be assisted by volunteers. BGPG creates preservation plans with priorities for future conservation treatment or restoration based on the severity of conditions or the historical significance of a tablet or monument within the context of the site (e.g., patriots, founding families). These priorities may be adjusted due to the availability of resources, changing conditions at the site, and other factors. All repairs are documented in Condition Reports made available for future reference such as those illustrated below.
